I am using an analog devices Eval board ADPD103Z-GEN, but the GUI is not recognizing the port for some reason. I was trying to do a firmware upgrade and after the download, when prompted for reset, it exit immediately! I suspect this is the cause of configuration fail! Is there any way I can configure the Eval board again?

Thread Notes

  • Does the COM port show up in device manager?

These evaluation boards use a FTDI chip to provided a virtual com port through USB.  The FTDI drivers are typically automatically discoverable by windows and other OS systems.  In the even this does not occur you can go directly to the FTDI site and attempt do download the driver.

Here is the link to the FTDI site to download VCP drivers.

    Virtual COM Port Drivers

When successful the board should show up in the "com" port list of "Device Manager" if you are using a windows system.  It will show up as "USB Serial Port (COMXX)" where "XX" is the assigned com port number.

  • The schematics are in the process of being placed on the web-site.  hopefully they will be in place by tomorrow.

  • The schematics and layout files are now up in the documents section of the EVAL-ADPD103Z-GEN evaluation board page.

  • Hi,

I am still struggling with the connection of EVAL-ADPD103Z-GEN and any of my computers. I got the "USB Serial Port (COM5)" and I can connect with an terminal program but if i start the GUI and press the connect (Auto Connect and Select Port), I always get some error messages. "Target not found" "Select Proper COM Port". Do you have any idea how to get the EVAL-ADPD103Z-GEN running?

I cannot do any Firmwareupdates because i need to connect first.

  • Dear Elglatze

I faced the same issue on my EVAL-ADPD105Z. Did you get the idea to solve this?
