The 3.1V - 5V requirement for VLED does need to be considered when looking at the power requirements for the MAX86140/1, alongside the 1.8V Vdd requirement.
The VLED voltage is used to power the external LEDs which will be connected to the device. This voltage is generated external to the MAX86140/1.
