is it possible to download code/compiled-code to the TMCM card without using the TMCL-IDE GUI app ?

Category: Software
Product Number: TMCM-6110
Software Version: 3.6.0.0

there's a need to download code into a TMCM-6110 card in customers products abroad.

is it possible to download code/compiled-code to the TMCM card without using the TMCL-IDE GUI app ?

that way the customer could run an independent file, that'll be sent to him, without the need of too much computer and technical orientation.

plus, the benefit of this method is that I can protect my IP and avoid exposing my code to others.

  • ADI North America will be on summer shutdown starting August 24, 2023; perhaps another community member can assist you until our return on September 5th.
  • The FAQ of their old website had a short guide for it, I am not sure if that guide still exists.

If not you can download the compiled code with the following steps (assuming you have a functioning RS232 etc. communication with the device already configured):

    • First, you have to put the device into Download mode (command code 132, Its in the manual under TMCL control commands).
    • Once you are in download mode you need to parse the file and send the instructions - the compiled file is essentially just a binary file with the TMCL commands
      • Read 8 bytes from the file
      • Set the correct module address & modify the CRC byte accordingly
      • Send to device
      • Continue until you've sent the whole file
    • Exit download mode

You have now successfully transmitted your code.

    Hope this helps.
