12bit ADC or 16bit ADC for motor driver ?

Hello. It confused me that the deffierence between the 12bit and 16bit ADC how  they influence  the motor driver current sampling.

    Hello Samueltsang,

    Both CM407 and CM408 have an 16 bit resolution ADC. The differences lie in the dynamic AC- and DC performance of the ADC.  The differences are listed on page 68 of the data sheet but in summary CM408 offers ~13ENOB (Effective Number Of Bits) while CM407 offers ~11ENOB.     The nigher number of ENOBs are typically needed in applications where you need both high fidelity and high dynamic range. For example, if you need to be able to accurately measure and control the motor current at low load as well as high load.

    In terms of configuration and SW interface the ADCs in CM407 and CM408 are the same.
