I2CWSD Replacement

Hello,

We have an ADuC7023 that we would like to program over I2C, as we do not have room to expose the JTAG pins we would normally use to program it.

The eval board page EVAL-ADUC7023 Evaluation Board | Analog Devices suggests that we can use the USB-I2C_LIN-CONV-Z along with the I2CWSD program to program this part over I2C.

However, when running this program, it is unable to communicate with the USB-I2C_LIN-CONV-Z, because of a missing driver. We have been unable to find a way to obtain this driver for Windows 10, and it seems this program was initially meant to run on XP.

Is there a driver available that will let me use this board, and if not, is there an alternative utiilty which will let us program the ADuC7023 over I2C?

  • Thank you for providing that.

I think I may have tried this revised version before, after finding it on another thread.

Attempting to use this is also unsuccessful, as the utility cannot detect the USB-I2C_LIN_CONV-Z.

When trying touse the program the "Monitor Status" window shows the following:

        Building up connection...
Couldn't find an FTDI device connected

In device manager, the device is identified as ADuC70xy USB-Combi-Downloader, with a warning sign. Under Device Status the error is listed as

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver

Clicking Update Driver fails to locate a compatible driver.

Does Analog have any alternative programming devices that may still be supported under Windows 10?

  • I'm not aware of an alternative programming device working with the I2CWSD utility.

I haven't tried this personally, but I believe some users installed a Windows XP or Windows 7 VM and installed the driver in the VM. They are programming the device through the VM.
