Can I set the security bits using the single pin emulation, it this possible or
must I use WSD?

The security bits on the ADuC8xx microcontrollers can only be set using the
WSD. You cannot use the
single pin emulation to set the security bits. Information on how to set the
security bits using the serial downloader is provided in the application note
UC004 which can be found at: www.analog.com
