Q:
I am evaluating the ADIS16210 on the EVAL-ADIS evaluation system and was wondering if you could explain the output data format from the IMU Evaluation software?

A:
The incline data uses a 16-bit, twos complement format. The register responses depend on the MSC_CTRL register. See pages 9, 10, 12 and 13 in the ADIS16210 (rev A) datasheet for a more complete explanation of the sensor response, as this response will offer an example to address this question.
ADIS16210 Datasheet: http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/data_sheets/ADIS16210.pdf
Step #1
Use the ADIS16210/EVAL-ADIS Wiki Guide to install the ADIS16210/PCBZ onto the EVAL-ADIS and install the IMU Evaluation software package onto your test PC.
Step #2
Once that is working, go into the Register Access menu to set DIO_CTRL = 0x000, AVG_CNT = 0x0003 and MSC_CTRL = 0x0002.
Step #3
Then, go into the Data Capture menu, select XINCL_OUT, set the total number of samples and set the datalog filename/path.
Step #4
Hit Start and then slowly tilt the sensor around the X-axis. this picture shows a tilt in the negative x-direction.
Here is an example of the sensor response. The file attachment illustrates the process of converting the binary number (twos complement format) into a decimal representation.
Hope that helps. As always, we appreciate your comments and look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
