Please can you confirm that the axes are as per the data sheet of ADIS16006.
I am using address 1 for the Y axis and address 0 for the X axis but I appear
to get the data reversed when compared with figure 23 of the data sheet.

The datasheet is correct. Note that this is the top view , looking down at the
earth below for example.
