How does it work?

The ADIS16228 collects data on all three axes in 512-sample records, applies
windowing, applies filtering, computes an FFT, and repeats this cycle for a
user-programmable number of times (FFT magnitude averaging). Then, this data is
compared with up to 24 spectral alarm conditions (programmable) on all three
axes and reports the alarm conditions to user-accessible registers. Under
“normal conditions,” some users will be able to monitor just one I/O pin to
verify that “all is well.” When the alarm does “trip,” they can request more
data from the registers and data records, in order to make effective response
decisions.
