ADXL362: Acceleration beyond measurement range

Q

I see that the accelerometer can be configured for up to ±8g. What happens if
it sees greater acceleration in the application? Will it get damaged?

A

The measurement range (±2g, ±4g, ±8g) indicates the range over which the
accelerometer will accurately report acceleration. Acceleration outside this
range will cause the output to saturate at full scale or 0x0FFF, but will not
cause any harm to the accelerometer as long as it is within the limits
specified by the Absolute Maximum Ratings table in the ADXL362 datasheet.
