Q
I need to measure inclination angle. If e.g. ADIS16209 or another accelerometer
sees non-linear acceleration during this measurement, will the inclination
angle be faulty?
A
Tilt sensing is accomplished by measuring the amount of the gravity vector that
is reflected on an axis of the accelerometer. The underlying assumption in
inclination sensing with an accelerometer is that the only acceleration
stimulus is that associated with gravity.
Application note AN-1057 which is also available on Analog Devices website
discusses this in great detail.
