I have just received a new Laptop (Dell MD3800) and am encountering difficulty in getting the new USB Driver to work. Ironically, if I use a port replicator, which has a 1:4 USB hub that has its own supply, the drivers work perfectly. So, I just wanted everyone to know that this is something that I am working on but I wanted everyone to know that new PCs may have some sensitivities that were not present in older Win 7/64-bit machines.
Thanks for the link. Here is what I tried:
1. Go to Device Manager -> USB Controllers -> And I unchecked the box (Allow computer to turn off this device to save power) for the 2 USB Root Hubs under USB Controllers.
2. I also went to Advanced Power Plan Settings and disabled the option that allows Windows to cut power to devices when they are not in use.
3. I restarted the laptop and made sure that both options are not changed.
Unfortunately, nothing changed for me.
Thank you! I am starting to feel like this relates to a power management issue on USB 3.0. I was able to get this working when I disconnected the DUT, but as soon as I connect the DUT (hot swapping), it gets lost. When I tried this with a lower power DUT (ADIS16201), it worked for a few minutes after I hot-plugged it in, but eventually it failed as well. When I was searching around the net, I found this post, which seems to be related, but I have been unable to try this out. I was hoping to try this out this week, but have had too many other things to attend to. I will get to this eventually, but if you happen to try this or anything else, we sure appreciate you sharing these insights!
I see the same problems when trying to use the EVAL-ADIS with a new Lenovo laptop that has Windows 10 64-bit installed on it on both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports.
On an older Dell Inspiron laptop that came with Windows 8 64-bit and was upgraded to Windows 10 64-bit, it is working fine but I had to use it with a specific HS USB port (USB 2.0) and not the new SS USB ports (i.e USB 3.0).
Could the USB ports be a problem? What OS is installed on your machine?
The error that I get is below.
