ADXRS622 Gyroscope mate to DAQ system

Thread Summary

The user seeks to connect an ADIS16334 gyroscope to a BNC female plug for logging angular position in a drag racing vehicle. The final answer suggests using a microcontroller to convert the SPI interface to CAN bus, or considering the Techmor IM-1 for RS-232 or CAN output. The ADIS16334 provides calibrated data, and the Techmor IM-1 is recommended for its integrated functionality.

Hello,

I've been searching for a gyroscope that has a port to plug a coaxial cable into, such as popular accelerometer sensors made by PCB for example.  I am trying to log the angular position of a drag racing vehicles rear housing w.r.t. the ground.  My question is how do you  connect the AXDRS622 Gyroscope to a BNC female plug? Which will ultimately connect to a DAQ system.  What else is needed for this sensor in order to build it into a rugged piece that will mount onto a racecar's rear housing?  I want to get it into this form below.

  • Hi Bill,

That isn't a typical configuration for gyroscopes but I will be glad to try to help.  Out of curiosity, will you need three axes of these?  The ADIS16334 already provides calibrated data in a SPI interface, which you can convert to a CAN bus using a simple, co-located micro controller.  Taking this a step further, you could consider Techmor's IM-1, which provides this type of function via RS-232 or CAN.
