Regarding ADIS16488A

Thread Summary

The user inquired about the ADIS16488A as a replacement for ADIS16488, noting that the ordering guide does not list ADIS16488BMLZ and CMLZ. The support engineer clarified that ADIS16488BMLZ and CMLZ are indeed models under the ADIS16488A generic product number, and the 'A' in the generic number indicates a newer version, not a temperature range. The ADIS16488AMLZ is no longer available.

Hello,

ADIS16488A is suggested as a replacement of ADIS16488 on the link http://www.analog.com/en/products/mems/isensor-mems-inertial-measurement-units/adis16488.html

In its ordering guide, parts don't include A. ADIS16488BMLZ and CMLZ.  Is it right that they are ADIS16488A?

If not, when would A product be released?

Best Regards,

Mack

  • Hello Mack,

I have to agree that this is really confusing.  We are very sorry about the confusion on this but the bottom line is that the ADIS16488BMLZ and ADIS16488CMLZ are models under the ADIS16488A generic product number. Here are few clarifying points:

    • The ADIS16488AMLZ is no longer available
    • The "A" in the ADIS16488AMLZ model number was a code for temperature range.  In this particular case, it denotes and calibrated temperature range of -40 to +70C and an operating range of -40 to +85C.
    • The "A" in the ADIS16488A generic product number just means that it was a newer version of the ADIS16488.
    • The "A" in the generic number does not actually show up in the extension of the model number (AMLZ, BMLZ, CMLZ) because it means something else.

Does that help?  We will not do this again, as your confusion is not unique! Thank you for posting this question and good luck with your design.  We look forward to hearing about how things are progressing and to supporting any new discussions you start in the Engineer Zone.
