ADXRS453 or ADIS16265?

What are the key differences between the ADXRS453 and ADIS16265?

  • The ADIS16265 is a temperature-calibrated gyroscope, in an 11.2mm, 20-pin LGA, that provides noise/stability performance that is similar to the ADXRS62x family. This was the first temperature-calibrated gyroscope in it's performance class and offers customers a simpler path to optimized performance.  When it was released, it provided a new option in the engineering trade space: moderate increate in unit cost (compared to ADXRS62x) in exchange for more conenvient interface (SPI vs analog), 10-20x temperature stability improvements, reduced development risk and faster development cycle times.  The ADXRS453 also provides a temperature-calibrated gyroscope and leverages a new, quad-mass structure.  This new core offered the following advantages, when compared to the ADXRS62x family:

    • 0.015°/sec/√Hz Noise density (ARW), 2.9x reduction
    • 16°/hr In-run bias stability, 1.6x reduction
    • 0.015 °/sec/g linear-g effect, 3.3x reduction
    • 0.00015°/sec/g^2 gxg effect, 2x reduction
    • Horizontal and vertical pacakge options
    • +3.0 to 5.25V, Single supply.

    It is important to note that the ADIS16265's noise, stability and vibration rejection is adequate for many applications and it offers a point of value in it's bandwidth (330Hz vs 77Hz) and sample rate (2048 SPS vs 477 SPS).  The wider bandwidth can be helpful in managing phase delay for feedback control systems and in some cases, the wider sample rate provides additional opportunity for digital filtering of sensor information.
