Schematic Review

Thread Summary

The user asked for a review of an accelerometer schematic with I2C configuration and inquired about sample availability for the EVAL-ADXL382-2Z. The support engineer noted that the SCL and SDA lines are flipped and should be connected to pins 2 and 3, respectively. The I2C device address is set to 0x55 due to ASEL pins being pulled high, and isolating capacitors should be placed close to the chip for optimal performance. The engineer also mentioned that a new batch of EVAL-ADXL382-2Z boards is in production.

Hi ADI team,
Can you please review the schematic attached below for the accelerometer with I2C configuration. And also is there any sample available for EVAL-ADXL382-2Z?

Thanks & Regards

  • Hi Jayakeerthana, thanks for reaching out. The biggest issue I see with this schematic is that the SCL and SDA lines are flipped; SCL should go to pin 2 on the chip and SDA to pin 3. Also, it's important to keep in mind that pulling both ASEL pins to high as you've done will change the I2C device address to 0x55:

There should be no problems with this but it's important that you use this value in I2C communications. Lastly, the isolating caps going to VS/VDDIO should be placed as close as possible to the chip, but are not required for proper use.

As for your last question, we are in the process of manufacturing a new batch of 382-2Z boards. I am not sure of the expected finish time for these boards, but I will update you if I get an exact answer.

    Regards,
    Nico
