ILED Peak calculation

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADPD188BI

The ADPD188BI datasheet provide equation for ILED Peak is as follows.  (Page 48, Rev. B)

LED1 PEAK  = LED1 COARSE × LED1 FINE × LED1 SCAL

The Circuit Note CN0537 Page provide the same equation as follows. (CN0537, Page 3)

ILEDx_PK = ILEDx(COURSE) + ILEDx(FINE) + ILEDx(SCALE)

Which one is correct?

  • The LED peak is best understood from the ADPD188BI datasheet table.  The values for "peak", "Coase" and "scale are defined in the LED register table.  Note that these are not direct register values but are computations derived from the value.  These weights and factors are based on average measured results from a number of parts.  Because their is a distribution, this LED peak value should be taken as a "typical" result.  Supply voltage and other constraints will also change this value.
