ADXL3xx EVB I2C comms

Category: Software
Product Number: EVAL-ADXL343Z-M and EVAL-ADXL375Z-M
Software Version: ADXL3xx EVB GUI

We have an ADXL343 communicating within our system using I2C; however, eventually requiring only the two tap detection interrupts. To tune our system and determine the tap detection thresholds, during development, we require real-time data, which the EVAL-ADXL343Z-M should provide.

Since our system is inertia critical, we have a bespoke I2C ADXL343 board (which we know works in our detection system). Due to the system inertial sensitivity, we connected this board (something akin to the EVAL-ADXL343Z board) on flying leads to the EVAL-ADXL343Z-S board.

We are able to receive SPI data when using the EVAL-ADXL343Z-M clamshell socket (with ADXL343 IC) and EVAL-ADXL375Z-M (with ADXL375), the P2 - P5 jumpers in default SPI state; however, no data appears transmitted with the jumpers in the I2C state and no obvious option to change the comms mode in the GUI. This initially seems to indicate we are unable to use the ADXL343's I2C connectivity on the relatively expensive piece of evaluation kit.

Does Analog Devices have a GUI or software to run the evaluation board in I2C mode - we cannot find any on the AD website? The use of jumpers to select I2C or SPI suggests there should be a means to use either comms protocol, so presumably we are missing something obvious.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
