Calibration of accelerometer

To calibrate Adxl355, y-axis, I put the accelerometer on a table and checked when z becomes 1g. When z is around 0.99999g I got two raw values for y axis, one is +14618 and another is -83. So how to determine which value should be taken for the offset?

Is there any other way to find out the 0-g offset that has to be applied to the offset registers?

You might want to consider observing y-axis and x-axis, when z-axis is in +1g and -1g orientations. The closer you can get to 180degree of orientation, the better you can separate the error contribution…

I am not sure that I fully understand what you are saying. Do +14618 and -83 represent the measurement of the y-axis accelerometer, under a singular orientation? In other words, is their any change in orientation, between each measurement?

You might want to consider observing y-axis and x-axis, when z-axis is in +1g and -1g orientations. The closer you can get to 180degree of orientation, the better you can separate the error contribution, from orientation error (with respect to gravity vector).

Hi Thank you for your response. Yes, both +14618 and -83 represent the measurement of the y axis when I hold the device in a single specific position once and while checking the continuous data readings. Is it impossible? May be then I can assume there might be any slight disturbance.
