Magnetometer calibration from 0 to 90 degrees

Category: Software
Product Number: ADIS16480

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to perform a calibration (Hard Iron and Soft Iron) of the values read from the magnetometer by just shifting it from 0 to 90 degrees.

We are running some simulations for project development for applications with displacement from 0 to 360 degrees and displacement from 0 to 90 degrees.

The article below helped us a lot in getting the sensor to work by shifting it from 0 to 360 degrees.

FAQ: Hard & Soft Iron Correction for Magnetometer Measurements

Could you please help us by indicating a way to obtain the calibration of the magnetometer sensor by performing a displacement from 0 to 90 degrees?

Thank you!

Regards

Tiago Fernandes

  • Thank you for your post. I am glad that the original document was useful.  I suspect that some value may come from only 25% of the rotation, but that would seem to make it difficult to separate the error sources, properly.  I will keep my eyes open, for any new ideas, but for now, I am not familiar with any techniques that have been published, with this constraint. Sorry I can't be more help.
