Calculating the vector sum of all three axis signals by an analog circuit

I want to bundle all 3 axis signals (x, y and z) of the ADXL337 into a resulting vector sum by an analog circuit in order to get along with only one signal channel instead of three. Now  I am looking for an appropriate analog circuit recommendation.

  • Hi @Kitong-Ha,

Thank you for the interest in our product. For this, I'll consult first with my colleagues and will get back to you as soon as I have a recommendation.

    Best regards,
    John

  • Hi @Kitong-Ha,

You may have to do the vector addition manually or you may connect it to a microcontroller and put the computation there. Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    John

  • Thank you, John. In my finished product it is finally sufficient to have only the resulting vector sum for analysis. But it requires I huge effort to lead all 3 signal lines from the sensor via cable, connector pins, amplifiers and ADC channels (please apologize the failure in my sketch: 'ADC', not 'DAC') to the MCU to calculate the vector sum by the MCU arithmetically. It would be much more economic and fit for purpose to form the vector sum directly at the sensor's output by an analog circuit and lead it with only one line via cable, connectors, etc. to the MCU. This was the reason why I asked for an analog circuit recommendation.
