Looking for a 6-Axis MEMS Motion sensor that combines a 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer,

Hi,

I am looking for a low power 6-Axis motion sensor for my tablet PC project. Could you suggest your recommendations for new design?.

Thanks,

Ijaz

    Hi

I would suggest for you to use ADXL355 (it is a newer product than 345). It is also a digital accelerometer that can perform well in your selection guideline. For one it has:

    • Range :±2g,…

    Hi

Thank you for your interest in using Analog Devices products. For your application, you may refer to the parametric search function of the company website here ( https://www.analog.com/en/parametricsearch/11172#/p5171=6|6 ) .

Theparametric search is already preset for your application (3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscopes).

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi John,

Appreciate your response. Just to clarify, our actual requirement is to have screen auto-rotation in a tablet PC. we just found out that, the same can be achieved  with a 3D accelerometer.

    Following are our selection guideline:

    • 3D accelerometers
    • Range (as configured on system – outputs of accelerometer): +/- 4.0G
    • Accuracy and Resolution
      • Non-linearity: 1.0%
      • Noise: 350ug/rtHz @10Hz
      • Initial calibration tolerance: +/-3%, +/-50mg
    • Sensitivity Scale Factor
      • 12mg/LSB @ ±4g
    • Sampling rates (hardware)
      • Minimum: 100 Hz
      • Optimal: 200+ Hz
    • Power consumption
      • Optimal: ~350uA or less

we would like to know the possibility of using ADXL345 series for this requirement. would you recommend any specific part no in this series?

    • 0 g offset: ±25mg (@ ±2g)
    • Sensitivity Scale Factor: 7.8 ug/ LSB @ ±4g
    • Sampling Rates: ~4 Hz to 4kHz
    • Power Consumption: 200uA in measurement mode

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi,

We are using ADXL345 device on windows platform. When we install the windows driver, we are facing the following error. Really appreciate if you could support to resolve the issue.

We are using a sample driver downloaded from msdn.

    Hi ijaz,

Can you please provide some extra information?

    - The Windows version that you are using

    - What eval board are you using

    - Screenshot of the error you get

    - Screenshot of "Device Manager" on Windows Control Panel. I need this to see if the drivers for the eval board have been installed.

    Thank you,

    Pablo.
