Interfacing ADF7021 with MCU

Hello all,

I am developing software to configure the registers on the transceiver through a stm8 MCU.

I currently have the EVAL-ADF7021DBx mounted on the EVAL-ADF70xxMBZ2, and have a null-modem cable connecting the UART-to-MCU port to the UART1 port on my STM8 evaluation board. I have verified that my MCU is sending out bits by checking a serial port interface to my pc and through an oscilloscope. However, when I try to configure the registers on the transceiver to do a silicon readback or transmit a certain frequency, nothing seems to happen. I've tried this at a number of baudrates, but I haven't been able to get it to work.

I have been unsuccessful at finding documentation on the UART-to-MCU port on the EVAL-ADF70xxMBZ2, so I'm not really sure if this is the right way to go about it. Would it be better to forgo the EVAL-ADF70xxMBZ2 and have the EVAL-ADF7021DBx directly interface with my MCU evaluation board to program the registers?

I'm new to RF and embedded, so I apologize if my question is trivial. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
