How to build the petalinux image,which is similar as pre-built image including all adrv9009 driver?

The pre-built image works well on my ZCU102 board & adrv9009.But ,I want to add my custom IP into block design.

So as my understand,I have to add corresponding drivers into kernel.

My question is ——how to add adrv9009 drivers into petalinux image(I have to use petalinux because of my custom IP core)?

Is there any tutorial?

    Hi,

    You have several options, of which I recommend two, depending on whether you want to version control the solution or not. Before I give you the solution, I must mention that petalinux (as well as yocto) downloads the sources from a predefined git repository (for petalinux this would be the xilinx repos) with the commit tag specific to the version number of petalinux.

    For example you are using petalinux 2020.1 and want to change the kernel configuration. When building the project, petalinux will fetch the sources from github.com/.../xilinx-v2020.1 ; notice the xilinx-v2020.1 tagged commit in the link.

    Solution 1. (not version controlled in petalinux)

    You can override the fetch source location of the kernel either to a git repository or a local copy on your PC. This is documented Here in the "Configure the ZCU102 PetaLinux Project" section, with the example being the Xilinx git repo, but you can change it to what ever you desire.

    This change to the repo location will be stored in the petalinux project, even if you version control it, but beware because you will no longer be on the Xilinx maintained kernel repo and it might break some petalinux compatibility if you are not on a similar kernel source composition as the default Xilinx git tag. Also this puts the burden on you to make sure that the new repo is properly maintained.

    Solution 2.(version controlled in petalinux)

    For this you need to clone the Xilinx kernel repo on the appropriate tag and make the changes that you require to it. After this you need to create a patch with your changes; this can be done using format-patch from within git. You then need to add the patch to the petalinux project, similar to this.

    Any patch that you add to the project, this way, will be applied after the do_fetch process for the kernel sources is done. This way you will have the option document and version control all the changes you are making to the default kernel sources within your petalinux project while the main kernel repository is maintained by Xilinx.

    Now,I have built a petalinux image which includes all adrv9009 drivers,and it can transfer RF signal as ADI pre-built image.

    But,I notices that this image don't include iio-device:ad7291 and iio-device:axi-adrv9009-rx-obs-hpc.There are two logs (ADI pre-built image & my petalinux image 's iio_info )
