Question
I am using ADuM1251 to cross the safety boundary mains input to touchable
output in a switch mode power supply. As part of testing the following test
voltages are applied:
1.5Kv AC 2Kv Dc or 3Kv AC 4KV DC. The test period is about 3 seconds.
What is the maximum number of times these tests can be applied without damage?
Answer
The simple answer is that the parts are rated to withstand 2500Vac for 60 sec,
so 20 times.
The reality is at 3kVrms the 1% failure time is >42 minutes. The 4kVdc 1% time
to failure is
>876 hours. So conservatively, I think you are safe at any of the test
conditions you have listed
below as long as you keep it below 500 tests.
