Question
I want to use the optoisolator ADUM1401ARW in my design. It will be used for
the isolation of the TXD data line of the RS232 port. Could I connect the TXD
data line of the PC's RS232 directly to the isolators inputs?
In many application I saw that the rs232 lines are passed through the RS232
transceiver (MAX232) and then connecte to the isolator. Do I have to do like
this? Or can I connect RS232 datalines directly to the isolators?
Answer
See page 14 of the ADUM1401 datasheet. All input voltages are relative to their
respective grounds, and must not exceed –0.5 and VDDI +0.5.
