Question
our customer is using the ADUM6400. Now there where some PCNs , and
some specs. Are getting worthier . What can he do ?
1. Original Specification:
Reinforced insulation per CSA 60950-1-03, 600 V rms maximum working voltage
Actual specification:
Reinforced insulation per CSA 60950-1-07, 380 V rms maximum working voltage
They need 400 Vrms and 480Vrms (utility mains voltage).
2. Why was there no PCN for this ?
Is there a replacement for the ADUM6400 with 600 Vrms?
How can they use the old device ,ADUM6400 , in their design to meet the
specs?
Answer
1. The package creepage for W-SOIC-16 per CSA no longer supports reinforced at
600V rms. They could switch to the RI-16-1 package which has more creepage and
has VDE certificate.
2.
Why was there no PCN for this ? -> The certificate changes happened between
datasheets with the initial datasheet stating certifications “pending”. It was
due to a change made by CSA described above.
Is there a replacement for the ADUM6400 with 600 Vrms? -> We only have the
ADuM6400 with the RI-16-1 and certificate described above.
