Question
What happens if the maximum output differential voltage of 350V is exceeded and
why is maximum only 350V as this would appear to limit it's operation?
Answer
The ADuM7234 is rated for 1000V rms isolation for short term isolation of
transients. Voltages above 350V output differential for short term is OK, but
long term could reduce the lifetime of the isolation.
The ADuM7234 insulation is silicon dioxide and has a lower working voltage than
our other gate drivers which use polyimide and have a higher working voltage.
It was designed for gate drivers in plasma displays.
