To adjust the charging current you will need to change 1) iLimSet[2:0] in the input current limit control register (0x0A) to a value larger than the target charge current + the maximum load current and 2) IFChg[2:] in the charge control register A (0x0B) to the target battery charging current.
Some other registers that might also need to be adjusted due to changing charging current are the charger timer register (0x0D) since a higher charging current would result in a lower charging time for the same battery and potentially the ChgDone current setting in the charger control B register (0x0C).
The ChgTyp[3:0] detection will only set the current limit if the IBusLim setting in the input-current limit control register (0x0A) is set to automatic mode.
