Will GMSL1 parts work with a discontinuous clock?
GMSL parts are not intended to work with a discontinuous clock. Every time the clock stops, the transmitter will stop and the receiver will get errors and lose sync. When the clock starts: first the TxPLL gets locked, then the transmitter starts; next the RxPLL gets locked; then the Rx decoders (frame decoder and descrambler) get in sync; then output starts. We say to allow 5ms for the link to settle, in practice it's less. So, in short, this application is not a good use of GMSL. The best thing to do would be to somehow make the clock continuous, don't worry about there being no data, it's just the clock that has to be continuous. Then you can use GMSL1.
