The VS, HS and video data timing from specific camera sensors do not meet the MAX9286 requirements. Can these sensors be made to work?
The MAX9286 generates CSI-2 short frames indicating a VS or HS transition when the transition is received. Because the short frames take some time to transmit on the CSI-2 interface, and the MAX9286 has very little buffering, timing of VS, HS and video data needs to allow the MAX9286 to generate short frames before the next transition, or data, is received. In some camera sensors, the timing requirements of the MAX9286 are not met.
The serializers used with the MAX9286 are typically MAX96705, MAX96707, or MAX96709. These parts have a timing generator which can be used to "move" VS and HS so that timing meets the MAX9286 requirements.
