Question
I have a query regarding Analog Devices (RS232 Driver/Receiver) part ADM206A.Currently we are using the device ADM236LJRZ-REEL.We have received information that Analog Devices has discontinued the part ADM236L, and suggested replacement from AD is ADM206ARSZ-REEL.
Can we replace ADM236L with ADM206A in the above circuit? Our concern is the value of capacitors used for these two devices.Currently we are using 1uF capacitors for the device ADM236L, can we use the same 1uF capacitors for the replaced device ADM206 also.
In our application EN pin of the ADM236L is permanently pulled low to GND & SHTDN pin is driven separately by another control signal.
The datasheet of the ADM206A device, capacitors used for this device is 0.1uF. What would be the impact if we use 1uF capacitors for this newreplacement device ADM206.
How will it affect the functionality/working of this new device by using 1uF capacitors?
We would like to retain the same value of capacitors 1uF for the new replacement device ADM206 also.
Answer
It is ok to use 1uF caps with this part. The datasheet title states 0.1uF simply to show it will operate ok with small caps. There is no problem to increase them to 1uFFeedback: NO
