GMSL1 SerDes with parallel interfaces can be used for non-video applications. A typical application is connecting a remote sensor (analog to digital device) to a microcontroller. Other applications are Radar and Lidar devices.
Parallel interface parts sample up to 29 user inputs (marked as D28-0) in a serializer, on the selected edge of a PCLK signal and output the same signals from a deserializer, after a small (~2us) delay for serialization and deserialization. A bidirectional I2C channel is also provided, for programming the parts and remote I2C devices.
PCLK must be supplied to the serializer, it's maximum speed is part dependent up to 116MHz (104MHz with 29 inputs). In cases where the inputs are synchronous with PCLK, the outputs are regenerated with the same relationship to the output PCLK, which is the same frequency as the input PCLK. In cases where the inputs are asynchronous with PCLK, there will be up to one PCLK of jitter on the outputs.
