The MAX9259/60 are first generation GMSL devices and only support UART as the local control channel interface. The peripheral interface of these devices can be either UART or I2C (using the UART to I2C function) but clock stretching is not supported in this mode. If clock stretching is required then we recommend the MAX9275 as an equivalent but newer version of MAX9259. Similarly, the MAX9276 is the newer version of MAX9260.
