The external resistor connected to PSET does not dissipate much power. Even in the worst case scenario, there is only a few hundred uW of power dissipated in this resistor. The MAX22502EEVKIT uses a 0603 case size resistor, but this can be reduced to 0402 or smaller size if desired.
