Can I use the MAX13432 for half-duplex communications?

Yes, with proper external connections of the logic enable and bus communications pins, the MAX13432E can be configured for half-duplex communication:
Connect DE and /RE together, and drive with a single logic signal. 
Connect A and Y together, and connect B and Z together.
