As long as a microcontroller has SPI capabilities, via an SPI peripheral or through a bit-banged GPIO interface, it should be able to work with the MAX3421E. The SPI interface on the MAX3421E is referenced to a user-supplied VL logic rail. Please ensure the logic voltage for the microcontroller matches the voltage applied to VL.
