Can I use the MAX3421E on its own to add USB capabilities to any device?
The MAX3421E requires a microcontroller or other SPI master device to configure it and interpret the USB transactions. It is intended to add USB functionality to a system where an SPI master is present but does not have USB capabilities already included.
