FAQ Can the MAX9275 I2S audio interface pins be used as additional parallel inputs?


In a MAX9275 application that does not require digital audio transmission, SD can be used as an additional parallel input.  Note that SCK and WS cannot be used as additional parallel inputs.  For this configuration, set AUDIOEN = 0 in both serializer and deserializer.  SD will be latched on either the rising or falling edge of PCLK (depending on the configuration), and it will be encoded in the GMSL packet along with the parallel and I2C data.

Note that this configuration requires the deserializer to also have digital audio capabilities.  The MAX9276A is a good companion to the MAX9275.
