FAQ What is FEC?

Forward Error Correction (FEC) is used to detect and correct bit errors that occur during the transmission of compressed video on the serial link. FEC is beneficial in a compressed video stream because while bit errors may not be visible on an uncompressed stream, errors on a compressed video stream could compromise thousands of pixels and can be visually observed by the user.
