ADuM1250 ATEX option

Hi,

Is there any plan on offering an ATEX certified isolator for I2C like the ADuM1250? I checked the ADuM144x family but the buffers needed to pass the I2C signals from one side to another consume too much power for our application.

Thank you and best regards,

Alberto

    Hello Alberto.

We could certify the ADuM1250 to IS standards.  However, we are in a funny period of time in the release cycle of the standards.  When the next revision of IEC60079-11 comes out, it will allow this technology for all isolation barriers, with proper protection, without an ATEX component level certification.  As the ed7 standard stands today it will require certification under IEC or VDE industrial component certifications.  So in a year or so, we do not need to get the ATEX certification any longer.

We would need to build a business case to justify certifying a part that won't need certification in a year or so.

    Best Regards,
