ADUM4135 false FAULT signals latches device off

ADuM4135 going into error unexpectedly | EngineerZone

  • We are using 4 off ADUM4135 in a power converter full bridge circuit, and are  seeing occasional FAULT signals, even though the DESAT pin is tied to GND2.

We have VDD2 at 20V and VSS2 at -4V to drive SIC MOSFETs.

Adding more decoupling right at the VDD2 pins didn't help, so we suspect some sort of radiated noise issue.

To minimize some of the effects, we are considering linking the /FAULT and /RESET pins - any comments/ issues with that?

    Any support much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • The ISO5852S is a similar part to the ADuM4135, but as mentioned, there is a difference in drive strength. If you want a specific rise/fall time, the ADuM4135 uses a larger external series resistor than the ISO5852S, shifting more power dissipation outside the driver IC which is beneficial.

Also, the ADuM4135 has tighter timing specs as compared to the competition, in terms of max propagation delay and propagation delay skew.
