I have a question about ADuM14x.
Our customer is trying to use ADuM14x.
Target application is EPS.
So the Functional safety is very important.
They want to know the failure mode.
The worst case is insulation breakdown.
For example if contamination in insulation film happen , maybe isolation barrier will break.
So my question is this.
When isolation barrier brake , would 1st side and 2nd side be short-circuited?
Or does ADuM14x have some kind of fuse and if the device detect isolation barrier breakdown by detecting over current , does ADuM14x cut the fuse and protect 1st-2nd short?
Thank you for your answer.
I already said what you said to my customer but they wanted to know this for just in case.
Anyway I understood that ADuM14x don't have somekind of fuse.
The ADuM14x contains no fuse circuits to detect the over current if the isolation barrier is broken, but we have every part tested under high voltage due to safety requirements before shipping to customers.
