iCoupler EMI mitigation

Hello

My customer query is about AN-1109 Page.8 Figure.10.

Does ADI have recommendation value for below item?

1.What is the VIA diameter?

   ("test boards used 4 mm via spacing for their evaluation boards."  in the document)

2.How wide guard ring trace?

<back ground>

The customer is going to PCB re-design for mitigation emission.

They have evaluated ADuM1301 for auxiliary  inverter.

Their EMI target  CISPR25.

Best Regards

  • Hello T.Kamino,

    We would recommend the newest triple channel device: ADuM131E1. It is pin-compatible with the ADuM1301, but offers improved radiated emissions performance, higher CMTI and noise immunity, and much lower propagation delay. It's also available in two package options: wide body SOIC (3.75 kVrms) and narrow body SOIC (3.0 kVrms), whereas the ADuM1301 is only available in the wide package with 2.5 kVrms rating. Your customer could likely use the narrow body package if the creepage requirements are met.

    It may be that the ADuM131E would not require EMI mitigation depending on the data rate, but would certainly need less than the ADuM1301.

    : can you help with the questions regarding AN-1109?
