    Hi Sofy,

The ADM3078E data sheet page 16 describes the hot swap feature.

The feature prevents data error during a power up sequence.

When VCC rises, an internal pull-down circuit holds DE low and /RE high.

After the initial power-up sequence, the pull-down circuit becomes transparent, resetting the hot-swap tolerable input.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hello, Richard,

Thank you very much for your response!

But my apology I misunderstood about the customer's question. It is not related with hot-swap.

(I shoud be re-write the title on this discussion...)

They would like to know our recommended mode when something (like RS-422 cable) is dis-/ connected to ADM3078E A,B pins.

At this case, do you have any particular recommended ADM3078E mode?

Thank you for your help as always.

    Best regards,

    Sofy

    Hi Sofy,

    The ADM3078E has true fail-safe A, B inputs.

When the cable is disconnected from the A, B pins the ADM3078E RO pin will have a Logic 1/High output.

    RECEIVER FAIL-SAFE

The ADM307xE family guarantees a logic high receiver output when the receiver inputs are shorted, open, or connected to a terminated transmission line with all drivers disabled.

    Best Regards,

    Richard

    Hello, Richard-san,

    Thank you for your response!

I understood that there is no particular recommended mode since AD3078E have a true fail safe feature on A,B pins.

    Best regards,

    Sofy
