ADuM3070 Transformer Safe Distance For PCB Layout

Dear All:

ADuM3070 is our DC-To-DC isolated power supply controller. The UG-402 Page3 and Page 6 about "TERMINALS" is ADuM3070 IC primary side and secondary side between GND distance 4.3mm for PCB Layout ?? If it's correct. Coilcraft's transformer recommended the primary side and secondary side between GND distance is how much the safest then be passed HI-POT testing. thanks

Best Regards,

Jacky

    Jackey:

In the UG-402 user guide it refers to the PC board layout which has a 4.3mm separation of the copper planes between side 1 and side 2. This is the Board Creepage as described in the attached image. In the datasheet the ADuM3070 clearance is defined as > 3.8mm and creepage is > 3.1mm. The transfomer has its own values of creepage and clearance. I hope this answers your concerns, please let me know if your have more questions.

    Regards, Brian
