Remote unit power cycle halts function

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LTC6820

I've been using two LTC6820 to transfer data from a control unit to a scoreboard and everything works well if powering on the scoreboard first and then powering on the control unit.

However if I power the scoreboard off and then on again while the control unit is kept on, the scoreboard won't resume and the display is not updated even though the control unit keep running just fine. The only solution is to cycle the power on the control unit wich wakes the scoreboard.

Is this normal behaviour for the LTC6820 or is there any way to solve this?

I'm using MAX7219 to drive the displays on both the control unit and the scoreboard.

This has nothing do with LTC6820, LTC6820 is simply a transceiver and does not have any digital logic to it. Whatever is communicated over SPI will be transferred over isoSPI on the isoSPI ports. For your explanation it looks like an issue at control unit at receiving end or some issue with transmitting end. The easiest way if to hook u pa scope and see if there are isoSPI pulses on the port.
