Cannot find command to reset the stepper motor after Following Error or Stall Guard Error

Thread Summary

The user asked how to reset the fault condition of the PD42-1-1243-IOLINK stepper motor after a StallGuard or Following Error. The solution is to set the Control Word to 'Off' mode, which clears all error flags in the Status Word. The motor will resume normal operation upon the next commanded velocity or position mode.

Dear Comunity,

Even if I read carefully the manual of PD42-1-1243-IOLINK stepper motor I was not able to find the parameter that reset the fault condition of the stepper motor.

When the stepper motor exceed the torch limit writen in the register (StallGuard)  or the integrated encoder doesn't match the number of step (Following Error) of the motor ,

the device go in fault and we are not able to go out from this condition. I was unable to find command to reset this fault , and to restart normal operation.

Best Regards,

Riccardo Centi.

  • Hi Riccardo,

To clear the fault state, the Control Word must be set to mode “Off”. This clears all error flags in the Status Word. If the fault condition is no longer present, the PANdrive will resume motion upon the next commanded velocity or position mode.
