Hi,
I just experienced another surprise with the ADGS1414D chip.
During the development phase of the SPI-interface I powered the DGS1414 and the Teensy 4.0 chip (through a 5V voltage stabilizer) from a 10V source.
Now being past that stage I instead connected a lead battery, giving 12.7V and a ripple free power. The source of the SPI-voltage have been the same, the 3.3V output from the Teensy 4.0 chip.
As result of changing the VDD level from 10V to 12.7V the chip is no longer responding to any commands!
The datasheet specifies the following:
12 V SINGLE SUPPLY
VDD = 12 V ± 10%, VSS = 0 V, VL = 2.7 V to 5.5 V, and GND = 0 V --> 12 + 10% = 13.2V 12.8 < 13.2.
ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGS
VDD to GND -0.3 to 25V --> -0.3 < 12.8 < 25
Please advise if I've missed something from the datasheet.
