Hi,
I’m validating a GMSL2 link using MAX96717 (serializer) and MAX96716A (deserializer) with the ADI GMSL SerDes GUI. I have observed a repeatable difference in the Reverse Channel Eye Map depending on what is connected on the serializer side:
- With a camera connected, the reverse eye map shows a clear eye (screenshot below).

- With the MAX96717 serializer dev kit (MAX96717-AAK-EVK#), the reverse eye map collapses unless I manually enable a diagnostic/continuous mode via register writes (screenshot below).

Additionally, opening the Signal Integrity Report / Eye Mapper tool resets these diagnostic settings back to defaults, requiring the registers to be rewritten after the tool is opened.
Questions:
- Is it expected that reverse eye mapping depends on endpoint type/initialization sequence
- Why does opening the SI Report/Eye Mapper reset diagnostic configuration and is there a supported way to keep diagnostic mode enabled?
- What is the recommended workflow to obtain a valid reverse eye map when using dev kits only?
I understand there is a GMSL SerDes GUI manual, could you please point me to the correct document or section that describes the SI tools and eye mapping behavior?
Thanks,
Erika
